Videos must be submitted by February 20th, 2018.
All videos must be in MP4 (H.264) Format with a maximum length of 15 minutes. Dropbox Link to follow, or email a link to your video on Vimeo, with the password and with download enabled.
The videos will be pooled and the top three overall will be awarded, additionally the top contender in each of the following categories will get a prize and be announced at the event.
“For The Love”: These videos will be about kayaking as it relates to you, no need to narrate, but we want you to show us a little of what inspires you and means the most to you about boating.
For inspiration, check out the Wells Brother’s video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLXM3StmGAM
“Rookie of the Year”: If this is your first time entering a film festival, you will get a shot at winning this category, and will also be entered into the category that your video fits best, doubling your chances to win! (relying on your honesty here)
“GoBro Category”: Is 90%+ of the footage you take from your own perspective? Don’t paddle anything aside from the ultra-classics? We ain’t too cool for your hastily whipped together self-portrait.
* Do try to get at least a couple shots of your friends in there though.
* And if it really is 90%+ shot from the top of your head, attempt to keep it in the 5-10 minute range please 🙂
“Laying Down the Rubber”: If you like to IK, Creature Craft, Raft, Tube, or ride an inflatable creature downstream, this is the category for you. Show us your best edit of your best times and lines on inflatable crafts.
“Hydrophile Award”: If you just have some fun footage of you and your friends and/or family on the water to show the community, this is the category for you! Are you a river researcher or someone who spends all their time advocating for access and clean waterways? Doesn’t matter what type of whitewater or what type of craft, we want to see what makes rivers special to you and how you spend your time spreading that love!
“Carnage/Spoof”: Can’t have a kayak film fest without some bootie beer drinking and shit talking!
“Salty Seafarer”: Not all whitewater is on freshwater. If your love of water is on the sea, this category is for you! Adventure sea kayaking, rock gardening, beautiful coast line shots and more sea water oriented filmography will all qualify you for this category.
Professional Category: If any professionals care enough to submit a video to our little local film fest, we will make an effort to award and show our appreciation, but in the spirit of encouraging more paddlers to submit their videos, a professional submission will not be entered into the overall top three.
